Toys for tough chewers

Hi there I'm new to the site. I have a 18 month old staffy bitch. her jaw crunches most toys. We've had nylabones but she looses interest...any different ideas for long lasting chew time? That don't cost an arm or leg?

Hi, meant to say Cannon Bone and NOT knuckle bone. Try the Cannon bone with vegemite or peanut butter in the end... They all love them

Toys for tough chewers

Hi had 3 staffies over 30yrs. And even with my 2 present day "SPCA Specials" I found the knuckle bones from the butcher, cut in half once they had chewed up the marrow etc I kept the dried bone left in their toy box, often put peanut butter or vegemite in the end for them to chew on. They all loved these bones.

Bones

Cheap raw beef bones, my dog loved them and would chew for hours. Although I didn't allow them in the house he would grab his bone and take off outside. If I left him at home alone he would run through the house chewing everything in site, so he came everywhere with me. They hate being alone.

Regarding Bidibids Jaw Habbits!?!

Hi, there. I am also new to these sites, I came across your question, and thought maybe i could help..I have a Beautiful 3 1/2 yr old Staffy, who was very uninterested at times & whom also loves to destroy Toys...Messier than a child sometimes,if you know what i mean? Anyway We found that if we played with him with his toys for about 30mins a Day he started choosing gradually his favorite ones and looking after them pretty well, the best one that has lasted the longest would be his Red Kong- a Tuff chew Toy with 6 bumps on it that bounces in different directions, after being thrown. The Kong Toys do cost a little extra than an average dog toy(i believe we paid around $35=),which are found in most pet stores, but it has its benefits when your Staffy cant pull the Rubber mass apart. That toy has lasted him coming on 2yrs & He loves it. The other toys which he seems to look after well are his Mint Fresh Breath Rubber Bone, and funny enough the little stuffed toys we gave him from Mc D's, ie... a piglet, an Eeyore, a Daffy Duck with an extended beak now,LOL, ummm a chicken Joe & a crazy looking Neopet & one of the Penguins from the Madagascar movie unfortunately you will find their favorites around the house, but just keep chucking them back by their Bed area, and then they will soon realize, Hmmm that's where my master prefers them..If by chance they get a big Stuffed Toy,Yes they will pull all of its stuffing out..But as soon as you get rid of the stuffing.See how much fun they have with the Shell of that Toy,,,Another Great little Toy from WOM is to every now & then, get an empty, clean 1.5 Ltr bottle, chuck in some of his/her favorite bickie's (small ones of course)to make a rattling sound. Then smear the inside top ridge, finger length with Marmite/Vegimite/Bovral which ever 1 you have and place the lid on it, then chuck it to the Dog to play outside with. This helps them to try and work for their Treats, with an added Bonus of a great Vitamin Booster included. My Boy LOVEs them!!!!! or if your dog likes apples, push a few of their bickie's into the skin of the apple. Hope this will Help.

We have a lab that destroyed a dog toy my parents bought him for Christmas....it took 10 minutes! My folks were gobsmacked! LOL We bought a hard rubber bone from Countdown for about 8 bucks and that lasted a few weeks which we thought was pretty good, we take them off him when bits start to fly! By far the best is the cannon bone but if you value your carpet or the...um smell of your home DO NOT let your beloved pooch inside with one *giggle*

Tyres

I have a pitbull and he loves to play with an old wheelbarrow tyre(They are free). Also make sure you get the white nylo bones they are stronger than the cream ones. There are a few good strongs toys out there you just need to find them.

Toys for chewers,

Sorry I dont believe there is anything out there that has been designed as indestructable for dogs to chew..their jaws are way too powerful. What we would give our dogs was either a cannon bone or half a pighead each. The cannon bones dont have a lot of meat on them.. and they last forever. When we had 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks they would eat most of the pighead but they couldnt chew the jawbone. Both items only cost a couple of dollars so give one a try.

I've had the same problem with my dog...

we tried nylabones at first but they only lasted at the most about 15 minutes before she lost interest in them. Then we bought a Kong toy (www.kong company.com) and that did the trick. However, she also likes soft toys which we buy for her from the Salvation Army for .25c. We always wash the toy first though, and take the stuffing out when it is ripped open. Hope this was of some help:)
