Shopping troubles~what would you do?~

Thankfully Butch must have good supermarket reps because I have never had an off Butch dog roll. But here's my problem with sales some times I get a different roll to try it along with my normal purchase of Butch Hound+Black label, first time I did this in ages about a month ago and the dog roll was rancid TOTALLY OFF, cut into it and it nearly bite me! so I went back to the supermarket the next day and after a bitch fest from the staff I got a refund. BUT last week I saw another brand on sale so I got one (different brand from the 1st off one) and yes that one was also OFF! I'm not going back to get a refund as we only have one supermarket in town and honestly I don't want to get bullied by the staff as I have had to go in many times in the last 6months for eras like getting over charged e.t.c.... and I don't want weeks of crap service and glaring. No I'm not a moaner or nasty but I will ask for money back when I am over charged $5+ (more than once/twice)

I loath my local supermarket yet it's the only one for miles. I'm kinda stuck, so ~what would you do?~ I'm actually thinking of writing to the National branch of that supermarket, but I just think that would be a waste of time? Trying to find a good point about this my maths has improved as I do have to check every receipt now.

Shop on line maybe?

You could try buying your dog food online or at least give it one go and see how that works out or do some figurs to find out if it is worth not getting the hassel from your supermarket and yes I agree as I only have one major supermarket and they advertise 200% refund and a replacement but make a big fuss when I try to claim on it

its so annoying when you get bad service

All the other members have offered excellent advice, yes its a pain in the @$#% when you have to check your receipt and complain, but stand up for your rights as a customer, because at the end of the day its you that they are suppose to be keeping happy, good luck.

its off because

the pet rolls aren't being kept cold enough at all times..
the display cabinet in the shop may not be keeping them cold enough also or it could be in the transporting of them..
complain to the supermarket or pet roll makers and get your money back, better the money is in your pocket than theirs, dont feel bad about it!!
you also need to make sure you dont leave the rolls sitting on your kitchen bench, warming up, as they will go off quicker too.

Thankyou

Thanks for the replies and support it's not always easy dealing with having to make more complaints time after time, after time.

The 'off' dog rolls have never been from the Butch range, better sales reps maybe?
I did e-mail the company the brand involved and told them politely how there brand was being sold/marketed in the supermarket involved and they gave me a $10 voucher for their products, so at least I don't feel out of pocket. And to deal with the problem of supermarket quality I hadn't actually thought of writing a letter to the paper, might help people actually pay more attention to items before they buy them too! Excellent idea!

~again thanks guys :)

Just a thought

If you have a local newspaper, you could send a letter to the editor. Your experiences may be more likely to be taken into account if they are published publicly.

I agree

Supermarkets can be really difficult to deal with.
As i have so many pets, I frequently buy reduced to clear pet food, and often get overcharged. Ithink Woolworths and Countdown do have a good policy where they give the product to you free and pay you back the money, but it is still really annoying!

I live in an area where there is only one supermarket too, so I think you just have to try and ignore it really, as it was their mistake and not yours.

Is it from the Butch range of products?

Hi there Muffin Bandit. If they are Butch products, email the team through this site, with the product name, size and if you still have them, the best before dates and production time codes and the store involved and they will contact the supermarket and deal with it.

If they are from another manufacturer, then contact them and provide the same details I mentioned previously and they will investigate the suppliers, (either Progressive of Foodstuffs) and their processes for chilling, containment and shipping, and will find out why this has occurred. They will usually also work with the supermarket management in order to stop this issue arising in the future.

This is the best way of going about it and it would be a good idea to let the company know just how supermarket staff treated you, when you requested replacement/refund and they will also make sure that should not occur again.

Good Luck!
